What we look for in an adoptive family is a commitment to helping a child adjust and have a happy, safe, and stable life within your home. The desired characteristics can be discussed in more detail with a representative from All About Adoption Consulting.

During your first consultation, we’ll discuss your unique situation, personal needs, & adoption options, educate you on critical adoption issues such as state laws, birth parents’ rights, & how to accelerate the process, coach you on the development of your Personal Profile, and discuss a preliminary direction for your personal adoption strategy.

At your second consultation, approximately two weeks later, you’ll receive your customized adoption strategy & roadmap, information on how to talk to birth mothers, agencies, & attorneys, and a critique of your Personal Profile. We’ll answer every question you have so you leave the meeting confident in your ability to successfully pursue your plan.

Throughout your journey, we are always available for ongoing guidance or even just to provide a listening ear.

What type of children are waiting for adoption?

Children are of all races and cultures from birth to age eighteen. Within the foster care system, over half of the children are school age, are part of a sibling group and/or are African American. Additionally, over half of the children are male.

These children that are waiting adoption come from various backgrounds and may present somewhere on the continuum of possible emotional and physical needs, behavioral and educational challenges, developmental and/or mental deficits, or possible medical diagnoses. The levels of care will range from minimal to global depending on the individual child.

In addition, these children will come from unique cultural, ethnic, religious or racial backgrounds and are in need of a stable out-of-home placement that is sensitive to the circumstances of the child.

Generally, children under the age of 5 years old do not “wait” as long for a permanent family due to the fact there are many families wanting to adopt this age range of child.
