Many adoptive families inquire about adoption assistance or subsidy. Subsidy is a monetary stipend for which adoptive children are eligible. Adoptive families must apply for subsidy in the county where the custodian resides. These adoption services and programs are funded by the government and there are guidelines that agencies must follow. You must refer to each individual State for subsidy information.

These rules apply to Ohio adoption.

Title IV E - To be eligible for this subsidy, the birth parents must have been receiving a cash payment, at the time of placement, from the government. Healthy Start, WIC and food stamps do not apply to this program.

Special Needs – To be eligible for this subsidy, the adoptive child must meet many special needs criteria. Disruption, minority group, or being a part of a sibling group are just several of the state’s required needs. These needs have to be documented by professionals.

State Assistance – To be eligible for this subsidy, adoptive families size and income must fall within the states guidelines.

Non-Recurring – This is up to a 2,000.00 cash refund at the time of finalization. Any documented adoption expenses you incurred are eligible.

As a private , All About Adoption Consulting is able to apply for subsidies for all custodial children. We can apply for these subsidies but WILL NOT guarantee your acceptance by Summit County. More information about these programs can be found on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Website. For information about other state adoption guidelines go to www.adoption.com
