Transition Counseling

Transition Counseling: $250 per family (non-refundable)

In the event that your child is being placed into another adoptive home, Turning Corners can offer Transition Counseling. Turning Corners can also help arrange the details of the actual placement of the child into the new resource. It is highly suggested that your child receive this counseling during the placement process. This counseling is an imperative part of the placement so that the child can successfully move from your care into the new placement resource. As the legal parent, as a condition of placement, you can require the new adoptive family to participate in transition counseling. The transition would occur in our Akron Ohio office. Your transportation, lodging and food during this one day time period would be at the expense of your family.

During transition counseling, your family and child will receive essential support. The emotional well being of the child is addressed so that he or she can integrate into the new home successfully. Your child and family will be able to have a time of closure and be granted permission to heal and move towards the future. If you wish, the transition can also be a time where you personally pass on valuable information about the daily care of the child and meet the new placement resource personally.
